We will be using state of the art steam cleaning system that cleans the surface with hot water reaching 200 plus degrees. Also we will be using a surface cleaner that resembles a circular buffing machine. Using this equipment allows us to clean surfaces without using any harsh chemicals and we wont be using a power washing wand to clean the pavers or concrete, do to that it will disrupt the base under the pavers, where our machine will flood out the joints. Also using a wand to clean with will beat the color out of the pavers or concrete.
If we cannot use the surface cleaner, because its in the corners or if its a retaining wall, we will use hot water and a broom to agitate the area.
The only time we use any chemicals to clean with, is if we have to strip off old sealer, or to clean off efflorescence and the stripper and cleaner is environmental, pet and plant friendly as well as our sealer.
Mold and mildew dies off at approx. 120 to 140 degrees , so our hot water is plenty hot enough to kill it.
If your pavers have been installed within a year, we should not have to use our surface machine to clean and as long as the sanding was done correctly, we will be able to clean with hot water , just flooding the area not beating on it with wand and agitating with a broom.
Once we clean the surface all the sand and debris will be at the bottom of the area and then we will remove.
If you have polymeric sand in the joints we will recommend that we remove it but not completely necessary. If the joints seam to be nice and hard and polymeric not flaking away, then we can seal over it. We like to use our loose silica sand and flood the joint with sealer so the two bond together. polymeric and our sealer or any sealer will not bond because its already hardened.
